Rangers bring in Cora on minor league deal

08/17/2010 - St. Petersburg, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Texas Rangers have agreed to a minor league contract with infielder Alex Cora, the team announced Tuesday.

Cora played in 62 games for the New York Mets this season, but was released and became a free agent last Wednesday. Cora is expected to join Texas' Triple-A club in Oklahoma City for Wednesday's game.

Cora, 34, has played with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland, Boston and the Mets over his 13 seasons in the major leagues. He has posted a .244 batting average and .311 on-base percentage over 1,178 career games.
